ST. PAUL’S UMC – CHILDREN’S RENOVATION, HOUSTON
To create an exciting area for children the basement was completely renovated, including reconfiguring classrooms, adding a multi-purpose gathering space, and raising ceilings to the greatest extent possible. Curving walls and bright colors were utilized to create an appealing environment for the age group. The main stairway was enlarged, and the center hallway widened to improve flow and to increase connection and community. An operable glass wall gives teachers the flexibility to open the gathering space for larger functions that do not need acoustical separation. Restrooms and all other areas were designed to be barrier-free for all users. The result is a vibrant and welcoming new space for this important ministry for St. Paul’s.
