ST. THOMAS’ EPISCOPAL SCHOOL, HOUSTON
Saint Thomas’ Episcopal School is a private, co-ed Episcopal institution serving pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. It is located in the Meyerland area of Houston. Saint Thomas’ was heavily impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The new, four-story academic building replaces four one-story buildings that were heavily damaged in the storm and provides additional space for growth. The large addition provides 80,000 S.F. of academic space over three floors for middle and high school grade levels, above a sixty-car garage. Located in the floodplain, the first floor of academic space is elevated six feet above the ground. Standing seam metal roofing, brick and cast stone cladding, arched windows and covered walkways harmonize the building with the architectural character and scale with the existing campus. A large terrace on the third floor allows high school students to meet and study outside, with views of the main courtyard and the Houston skyline beyond.
